Raffle Tickets

We have a divison that is having an event and would like to sell and track raffle tickets.  I was wondering how others handle raffle tickets at their organizations. I don’t feel like it should go on contributions since it isn’t charitable, however, setting up a performance would be rather time consuming.  Any ideas or tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,

  • Just a couple ideas off the top of my head...

I'm assuming you'll be using Tessitura to process the payment, in which case it has to be a ticket, contribution, or fee.

I've generally seen this done as a ticketed event but for a less involved setup (but with less reporting flexibility) you could employ a user-defined fee and/or set it up as an activity where the 'attendee' field represents the number of raffles purchased.

Also, you could still use the contribution module but create a dummy raffle fund that you ignore on all giving reports.
