Hello! We are working on standardizing our practice around deceased season ticket holders and would like to collect some practices from the community. First, do you require any kind of proof such as a death certificate? Also, if someone is not named on the account do you allow them to take over ownership of the tickets - may be family member but may just be the person who attends with them. Thanks!
If a patron has passed away, and someone wants their seat, we require that the executor of the estate sign a change of ownership form to release the seats to the interested party. We don't require much proof that they are the executor, but we find that most people have been pretty honest in getting that person to contact us to receive the form to fill out.
Thanks, Amber. Is the change of ownership form something you developed internally? Did you consult outside legal help?
We designed it internally and did not consult legal on it. Here's a copy of it for reference:
Thanks!
