Free Walk in Museum to Free Ticketed Admission: How to Resemble the Past Experience While Keeping Ticketing

Hi Everyone!

We used to be a museum that you could just walk in any door and explore the museum but due to covid, we went to timed ticket entry at one entry point. We are trying to find a nice in-between for the future so we can have a similar walk-in experience, but we don't want to lose the good data we have been collecting by requiring tickets. We have been thinking about selling tickets at the doors, we've played a little with the idea of TRBO or kiosks, but wanted to know if anyone else was planning to go the same route and how they were thinking of approaching it.

Let me know!

  • We also have three art galleries and a museum that pre-covid were free to walk into. We also don't want to lose the data for timed ticketing and patron info so, we're going to still require timed ticketing, which is free now, and will continue to be, and to be equitable, we have a walk-in constituency that we will use for patrons who do not have email or do not want to provide their information.
