LS2208 Barcode Scanner Install

We have all our NScan stuff installed, but now we need to install our Symbol LS 2208 for the box office use of ticket returns and the such. Does anyone have any installation instruction/tips or suggestions, as there is very little documentation included with the scanners themselves.

  • We use an different model for box office scanning but I would think it's probably something along the same lines.
I used a program from Symbol called 123Scan. It as available for free on their website (and may be included on your installation disc)

123Scan is a GUI that allows you to program your scanner to interact with your PC. In my case, I defined several rules for the scanner to execute different behaviors based on what input it scanned in. If the data scanned meets a formatting criteria (in most cases, I append a three character string to any non-NScan barcode products like gift certificates, etc... to make this sort of rule based filtering easier to program i.e. 'if first three characters are GFC then.....) then I program a specific series of keyboard commands for the scanner to execute. Most of the time you can use the Tessitura shortcut keys to get you exactly where you need to go. The general caveat being that most of my programming requires that the user be in an empty order screen. All of the execution steps assume that cursor location as a starting point.

Like I said, this is specific to my situation and particular model but will hopefully get you started in the right direction.

    Good luck!
