Gift Card payment method and fiscal years

How is fiscal year assigned with gift card payment methods?

Looking at the tables, we’re not exactly clear on how the fiscal year is being assigned when a gift card is purchased and subsequently redeemed.  In the past, I assumed the fiscal year was assigned based on the year in which the gift card originated, but we’ve recently had transactions being assigned to our next fiscal year.

  • When an order is created with no Fees, Lineitems, or Contributions (such as a gift certificate purchase which is just a payment to payment zero adjustment transaction), the FYear comes from the Campaign of the Source’s Appeal.

So Source à Appeal à Campaign à FYear.

This goes for any zero adjustment transaction (payment method to payment method).

    Hope that helps
