Hi all,
I'm pretty sure I know that the answer will be a no, but has anyone found a way to increase the character length for Titles, Productions, Production Seasons and Performances? The 30 max character limit just isn't long enough for some of our performances, especially when using bilingual names.
TNEW is not a problem, as the overrides can work there; but for reports etc I hate having to cut the performance names off and abbreviations aren't always appropriate.
Does anyone else have this issue?
Thanks, Alison
There's no way of changing those fields as they are set in the System Tables. But for some reports (like with Ticket Designs) I've referenced other fields for production names that are longer.and more helpful
Thanks Heath. Sounds like it might be time for me to put in an enhancement request to see if increasing the number of characters is feasible someday! Especially as it fits the DEAI advancement too, with being able to accommodate bilingual performances appropriately.
Best of luck there! The 30 character limit on many fields throughout Tessitura has long been the bane of many an organization's desires and needs.
Hi Alison - we had this very same problem back in 2006 when we did The Blonde, The Brunette and the Vengeful Redhead. :) In Tess, I called it Blonde, Brunette & Redhead but then we created a custom content type of "ProdLongName" and we add this at the Prod Season level.
We aren't concerned about what reports show, it's more our ticket designs and the website. We created a user-defined element for our ticket designs that if this content is present it uses it rather than the perf name. Same with web - if the content is present it uses the content rather than perf name. It's worked out rather well for us. You could however update any custom reports to use this content as well.
Hi Alison (and others),
We have this noted as an enhancement request that we'll consider for a future release.
