Comp Management for Digital Content

Hello everyone!

We are looking at using the new TNEW gated digital content feature for an upcoming production in the winter.   One possible issue that has emerged is how to manage comp tickets/access for sponsors or other groups.   In a traditional setting, comps are created, printed and given to the sponsor/group.  In this new digital world, everyone needs to have an account to access the content through TNEW. With the sponsors/groups, often we do not know who receives the tickets as they can distribute tickets to whomever they wish. 

I had considered using a promo code and/or pricing rule for redemption, but there is definitely a risk if someone shares the promo code (we have been burned by this in the past).   Another thought would be to utilize a special gift certificate payment method point to a dummy GL account as it would create a unique code for sponsors to distribute. 

Has anyone else come up against this type of problem? If so, how have you addressed it?

  • Hi Kristine,

    We had a company sponsor for a recent production and we gave them a unique promo code, but it was also an allocated number of seats. The company was responsible for distributing the promo code and we were able to cap the number of tickets reserved with the allocation.
