Restricting subscriber addons to only renewed subs - online

Hi all!

We've begun our subscription campaign for our 20-21 season, and I am not quite sure how to restrict online access for subscriber add-ons for next season shows.  Basically, only renewed/new subscribers for next season would be able to add on shows.

Currently, I have separate subscriber MOS that are activated when constituents log in and they receive access and their discounts, plus pricing rules as a fail safe.  This wasn't an issue last year, because it was our first year on Tessitura and only have the one season.

Now, I'm not sure how to limit unrenewed subscriber from accessing next season shows.  Would I need to create another mode of sale?  ideally, I wouldn't have to do this (since we use rankings and I would love to NOT have to recreate the wheel each season)

**To clarify, I am seeking how to have renewed/ new subscribers for next season be able to go back to TNEW after having subscribed and access single ticket add-ons for next season, while have unrenewed/ general public folks not have access until they purchase or renew**

Is there a way to use some promo code/ offer/ pricing rule magic to restrict access?

Any advice is appreciated and I'm happy to explain our situation more if needed!

Thanks!

  • Hi Kari,

Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you are worried about a patron logging in, not renewing their subscription but potentially having access to add on shows?  Or is it that you only want renewing subscribers to have access to add-ons and NOT new subscribers?

Do you use one MOS for all of your new and renewing subscribers?  Also, do your add-on performances have a separate price type (like an add-on price type) for this purpose?

I haven't really done subscription renewals based on rank, I've only used different MOS. However, I find your setup very intriguing.

Have you looked into the Discounted Single Tickets with Subscription pricing rule in the recipe book?

This would at least make it so that they would need to purchase a subscription.  I would definitely test it out though because I always seem to find a loophole when I use pricing rules.

Happy to help if I can!

    Best,

    Ashley

  • Ashley -

I probably should have been a smidge more specific (and I'll edit my original post).

This would really be for subscribers who have renewed or bought a subscription for next season and then go back to TNEW to purchase an add on.  I have the exact pricing rule you list above in place and it works great!

Ideally, those renewed subscribers would be able to go back to TNEW and access single ticket add-ons for the next season, but anyone who hasn't renewed or purchased a subscription would not be able to access (until they purchase or renew).  I might end up needing to make a new MOS, which wouldn't be the end of the world, just a bit extra work and setup.

  • Hi Kari,

You will definitely need an MOS shift in order to provide access to add on performances when a package isn't also in the cart. Even when a subscription is in the cart, an MOS shift (because a package has been added) is what is providing special access to the add on performances. Pricing rules can only provide access to different pricing; they do not provide access to products that would not otherwise be available in whatever the current mode of sale is.

To set up an automatic MOS shift for next season's subscribers, you'll need to set up a ranking processes that applies a rank value to anyone with a package for next season. Then set up the MOS shift in the TR_WEB_RANKING table.

  • Kevin -

Thanks for clarifying! I figured that was going to be the end result, but wanted to double check.  This might work best as we could have this MOS be used year over year, or create an odd/even year MOS for these types of situations.  We currently use rankings for our subscribers, so I will mimic the setup for those with a few tweaks.

    Thanks!
