We often have customers who, for various reasons, cannot use thier tickets for a performance. We offer to put these tickets up for resale and currently the staff manually keep a note of these resales on a written sheet within the Box Office.
I wondered if there is a way of highlighting these seats on the seating map (making them another colour) so staff can see at a glance from here which seats are up for resale and save them from checking a hand written form? We also have a terminal which operates off-site and would allow them to see immediately for our sold out performances if there are any seats up for resale and cut down on email/phone call chasing for this info. The money for the seats stays with the original ticket buyer until we find another buyer, and therfore the function of 'tickets donated for resale' will not work for us.
Wondered if anyone else offers this service and how you manage the process?
Thanks Jen
I swear that I saw a mini magic on this at conference last year. I can't find it easily in the archives, but essentially they made a resale mos that they would refund tickets orders into, and hold the money on account for that order. At certain time intervals, they would run a list based on mos, and properly refund anyone who's tickets had been resold. That way they are truly available, and there is a lot less in the way of manual record keeping.
Found it!

Thanks Jordan. Unfortunately, your link doesn't work but I shall investigate further re setting up a mode of sale.

Hi Jennifer, the access key is generated per user when they click the link on the page, so you'll want to go to the TLCC2019 archive and scroll to the bottom of the page under the Mini-Magic section and click number 25, "Delivering Customer Resales". Here's the link to the Mini-Magic portion of the TLCC2019 archive.
