Hello!
We would like to have a way for a guest to donate a small amount (ex: $1.00) at the ticket office when they are purchasing tour tickets without having to go through the contribution sub tab and adding an owner. My initial thought was to create a ticket called "Donation" and then create the button in quicksale so that our ticket agents can add that to an order relatively quick and easy. Is anyone currently asking for the "would you like to donate $1.00 today?" on top of a ticket order, and if so is your process similar?

Yes, we do this at the Wadsworth. We have a Quicksale button set up for Donation, and within that button are $1-$10 buttons, and then $15 and $20. We set this up because it's not uncommon for people to say "keep the change as a donation" or make a small donation when something is unexpectedly free. It's worked out fine, and this way they don't have to tab over to Order Details for contributions.

Thank you, Courtney! I tested this in our system and even though the button works in QuickSale, it only activates after an Owner has been populated. Are you accepting the donations without having to add the Owner? That's what we're trying to avoid.
This behavior usually indicates that the fund is associated to a campaign that is associated with a membership organization. Memberships cannot be created without a constituent. But, it is possible to take contributions without constituents, as long as it doesn't create a membership.

What Michael said. And/or you could create a generic customer account used for otherwise anonymous donations (and obviously your Development and Finance departments would have to get on board with this).
Unless the intent is to be able to enter the donation BEFORE having to look up the customer's account.

To get around the issue, we have our “small donation” QuickSale buttons set up as a Fee. This setup allows “donations” to be collected as a Fee button in QuickSale and also allows the owner of the order to be Gen.Public.
Yes, what Michael said. Our Donation buttons happen to be directed to the same GL as our front desk admissions. But, we do manage to take other non-member contributions at the front desk without the system requiring an Owner.
