Hello,
I have created my very first dashboard and would like to share it to the person who requested it. When I try to share it, the only person available as an option is our DBA. I'm assuming it's a permissions/security thing, but what am I missing?
Thanks!
Hi Lesley!
Congrats on making your first dashboard!
In order to share the dashboard with anyone, they will need to have opened Analytics first. You'll just want to make sure they have done that, and you should be good to go. If that doesn't work, check with whomever controls your security to make sure that their email address is included as part of their Tess info.
Thanks! All of the things you've mentioned are true - I've checked. They opened Analytics this morning, and the email address is in security setup. I saw something about a Tessitura Analytics User Group in the documentation, but do not see such a group in our Security settings.
Ooo, that sounds like you need to go into Security, open up any user groups that you want to access Analytics, and check the box for Analytics.
You all are awesome, but that's not it either. I really appreciate your help!
Drat!
Does that person have more than one user group that they might be logged in as? Maybe they aren't in the usergroup that has analytics access as their default?
Maybe, but all of the obvious user groups have analytics access. And it's weird (to me, at least) that the only two choices I get are the members of our Admin user group.
Have they opened analytics in either Tess-on-the-go or client?
Did they open Analytics for the first time today? I'm not sure exactly which things are controlled by Analytics server, but it could be that the server wont recognize them as a user until it's updated overnight, if this is the case, they hopefully will show up tomorrow in the sharing window. (But this also wouldn't explain why only the DBA is visible - unless no one else has opened the window either)
Yes, they opened it in the client this morning. I've been playing around with user groups, thinking that maybe the problem is that we are not in the same user group (although I do have access to the other group). But when I log in to the other user group, I no longer have access to share my dashboard.
Dee - you may be on to something here! Yes, this morning was the first time. I will put on my patience hat and see what tomorrow brings.
Fingers crossed!
I'm super sad to report that there was no change when I tried again this morning.
Do you share a user group with the person who you're trying to share with? I have vague recollection that you need to share a user group to share with an individual.
We ran into this same issue last month. You both need to have access to the same user group (does not have to be the same default for each though). The network recommended that we create an Analytics user group with no rights that could be shared amongst all users in order to ensure that everyone who uses Analytics could share with one another.
Hi Lesley,
Have you given their user group a Dashbaord Role? You need to have permission to the user group of the person you are trying to share with? Otherwise, you should have an option to choose to share with "Everyone " (type that in the search when trying to share) but that will share that dashboard with everyone no matter what user group they are in.
By permission I mean you as the sharer need be Associated with the user Group in Security under your user name and the Group button with the user group of the person you are wanting to share with. It does not need to be your default but you need to be associated with that user group. I do not find this in documentation anywhere, but we faced the same problem recently.
The only other option I see possible without having user group association is to share with "Everyone".
I would open a support ticket if you are still having problems.
