Promo Code Restrictions

Hello!

I am trying to determine whether it is possible to restrict promo code use to only records that have a specific promo code promoted to them. So for example, is it possible to create a promo code that ONLY Board Members can use when they are signed into their account on our website, or only certain employees from a specific company can use? We are looking for ways to restrict promo code abuse/usage to make it harder for board members, corporate affiliates, scalpers, etc., from giving out or obtaining specialized promo codes that are intended only for limited use or for specialized audiences or groups.

    You should be able to accomplish this by creating a pricing rule. You can narrow down the people who the code will work for by a list or constituency if you use those.  Let me know if you need more specific help than that!

  • To build on Jordan's answer, there is a constituent criteria option in pricing rules of Promoted Appeal and Source. This option looks for a promotion record on the constituent's account for the selected source or appeal. One further advantage of this is that the promo code does not have to be entered for the order. The constituent just logs in and if they have the promotion on their record the rule fires and they get the discount.

    Sounds like you're on the right track with the info Jordan and Kevin shared. We do exactly this for our artists to redeem comps and discounts online, without being bale to share their comp or discount ticket access to anyone who isn't them.

    We use a combination of pricing rules, promo codes, and list generators to restrict this access and max out their ticket redemption (i.e. so they can only get their two comps and not any more, regardless of how many orders they create).
