We have a Nutcracker Magic Soiree event that is separate to the performance but includes the performance ticket. Our team wanted to have the ability to have patrons purchase it via the web for the first time. Also the price, name do not appear when the tickets are printed. Also sending it through Tess avoided a internal fiance move of paying one department for tickets out of the Tess system.
So to set this up.. Since a performance can only either be GA or reserved and not both. I added a dummy performance listed as the start of the soiree at 10am. Its set up as GA and killed the house to party capacity and price zones caps. Web links links to this performance ticket prices are layered for three price points with a ticket price and donation amount to match the $400 and $500 prices. I also have the TN Express Sell unseated so the confirmations would be TBD for seats. All GLs are set to hit tickets/spec events funds. Our Daily Sales reports will have this show on them this cannot be removed??
Everything above should capture and allow all on sales to happen via the web.
As we get closer to the performance or when it sells out we plan on executing exchanges for all the orders and seat them in the 1pm performance. This should take care of the seating the $$ should move when we do the exchanges into the correct performance. As far as the no name and no price we can have the ticket designed elements removed from the ticket text for the price type so it accomplishes that part.
Is this and was this the best way to accomplish this was there another way to do this via Tess??
Please let me know if this is the best way to accomplish this via Tess and there's something I missed or is there a simpler way or another way to do this via Tess.
Thanks so much
Matt
Hi Matt,
We do something similar here at Ballet Arizona. Rather than including the cost of the performance ticket in the package cost, we make it an add on. We promote it with a pricing rule, and have pretty good success with that. Alternatively, you could put it together as a package, so that you don't have to create the dummy performance. Does that make sense? I'm happy to chat with you in more detail about how we do it.
Hi Ballet Arizona and Thanks Jordan for the reply. Since we are not using pricing rules. Do you see a problem with the way I have explained or set it up. As far a putting it together as a package. I take its similar as doing full subs...maybe you can tell me more.
No, I don't think there is a problem with the way you've done it, but I think if you set it up as a package, you are going to have less work to do in the long run.
I'd probably set it up as a flex package. then you could have them choose which price point they want to pay for their ticket in one event, then have a general admission ticket to account for the rest of the event that is GA. You will have to set up 2 separate events and the package, but you won't have to worry about reseating anyone during the insanity that is Nutcracker. That way you can use your actual seat map for The Nutcracker, and have a GA venue with only the number of tickets available for the capacity of the event, and not worry about your numbers being off, or doing the double work later.
Thanks Jordan for the insight.
Thanks for all the help.
Sure thing! Feel free to shoot me an email or give me a call if you need any help or have any other questions.
