EMV touchless credit cards not showing card holder name

Hi all,

I am going to put this in finance also. Has anyone seen this happen and if so do you have a resolution? We have Payment express and when a patron uses one of the newfangled touchless credit cards (where they just have to have the card near the card reader) it doesn't show the cardholder name. It processes that amount and everything else looks good except their name doesn't show up. Thanks for any help you can give. Sally

    We are on Vantiv, and have seen the same thing. It used to be all EMV payments (or possibly only all of the truly contactless payments, e.g. Apple Pay, etc.), and more recently has become rarer, but we still occasionally see the "name" field in T_PAYMENT_GATEWAY_ACTIVITY is populated with "/" alone, or entirely blank.

    Since it is happening on Payment Express as well as Vantiv, I suspect this is happening further upstream, and beyond our control. 

  • Just to support this, I remember that one of the selling points of Apple Pay that was advertised to cardholders was that your name was not transmitted to the card reader over NFC.
