Wheelchair Holds

We are doing a check to make sure we are up to date on current ADA standards.

Want to make sure there isn't any more up to date info then what I have here (From 2010) https://www.arts.gov/sites/default/files/NEA-ADA-TipSheet-v2.pdf

Also trying to parse this section

A wheelchair user may purchase up to three companion seats that are contiguous
and in the same row so long as such seats are available and all patrons may
purchase that number of seats;

So reading that as we need to have holds in 3 additional seats (at least until show starts to sell out an only pairs are available to general public?)

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi R.J.,

    That sounds just about right, someone requiring the use of the accessible seating can purchase a total of four seats, one for their use and the other three for their guests/family/friends so they can all sit together in the accessible section.

    The seats are required by law to be available for purchase in the same ways that non-accessible seating is, so if the seats are held and only available by phone or in-person, that's not fully compliant if seats in the non-accessible seating area are also available to purchase online.
