Pay-what-You-Can

Has anyone set up a "pay what you can" pricing online? How did you do it? How successful has it been?

  • Hi Amy, We have one event that requested PWYC. The only solution we could come up with was having 5 different price types - "Pay What You Can 1", "Pay What You Can 2", etc and going up in increments. This allows the buyer to select from several price points, but it's not truly a pay what you can system. It worked ok. Almost all buyers did choose the cheapest option. I would be interested to hear if anyone has another solution.

  • We did this as well, though we had a bit more success with patrons choosing higher options. We also considered setting up a contribution fund that went into our single tickets campaign, but ultimately decided against this since we couldn't figure out how to make it only show up if pay-what-you-can tickets were in the cart.
