Attaching a Constituent to a general public order w/ contribution

Hello all,

I am attempting to attach an order that was processed to the general public (without an account) to its appropriate constituent. It's usually not a problem to simply connect the order with its constituent through the constituent chiclet, but since there was also a contribution processed on the order, Tessitura will not allow any changes to be made to the owner. When I attempt to change the owner, the error message comes up as Invalid Entry, saying, "The constituent ID on this order cannot be changed as contributions have been made in the order." I thought I could zero-out the balance, put the contribution on a gift certificate, and re-apply it to the account once I had attached the constituent. However, after doing so and attempting to delete the zeroed-out contribution, an Information window pops up, informing me that "Contributions which have already been saved to the database cannot be deleted. The contribution may be set to zero instead."

Does anyone know a workaround for this? Is anyone else experiencing similar problems with orders sold to general public as opposed to orders processed on accounts? I would have attempted a contribution adjustment as well, but as far as I can tell, it's impossible to adjust a contribution without a constituent. Any suggestions are welcome!

Thanks,

Brenna

  • Hi Ann,

I did already adjust the contribution to zero and place it in a gift certificate, after which I attempted to delete the contribution from the ticket order. Because the contribution was already saved and processed as a part of that order history, I was unable to delete the contribution from the order. That gift certificate has been re-applied as a contribution on the correct account, but it looks like there is no way to attach that original ticket order to the account, as well.

    Thanks for the reply!
