Pricing Rule Question

Hi everyone,

Can someone confirm if the following is possible or not?

One of our Family Membership benefits is up to 2 adults and 6 kids receive free admission.  We have a Constituency-based, Multiple Price Type pricing rule that works great if someone enters in at least one adult AND one child, but if someone with a Family Membership wants just an adult ticket, it won't adjust down to $0.

I know I can do a product only rule that says 'purchase up to 8 tickets at the following price types, and adjust to $0' , but this would technically allow someone with a family membership to receive 8 adult tickets for free, which we don't want to do.

Is it actually possible to have a rule(s) that allows both 2 adults and their kids with a Family Membership to receive their comps, and an adult with a Family Membership coming on their own to get a comp?

Thanks,
Kathleen

  • Hi Kathleen,

I think you could make this work with 2 different pricing rules. For the first rule, keep your current Multiple Price Type rule set up as-is. For the second rule set up the Product Only rule as you were thinking, except set the limit to 2 tickets. Then in the rule set rank the Multiple Price Type rule higher than the Product Only rule. The effect should be that when a member is buying only Adult tickets, they will not qualify for the Multiple Price Type rule, so it will move on down to Product Only rule, for which they do qualify.

    I hope that helps,
