Has anyone come up with any ingenious, workable ideas on how to do pre-sales with unique single-use promos/passwords? Each patron would have a unique code that would give them access to a pre-sale. We are getting more commercial rentals, etc that are asking for this. I haven't come up with any good solutions using standard functionality. The only std way I can think of doing this would be to have a row in TR_WEB_SOURCE_NO for each unique code with a matching pricing rule for each one to manage the single use. That doesn't seem practical for a few hundred codes (or more). I'm thinking I might be out of luck on this one.
Hi Todd
We use unique codes quite regularly at the Roundhouse to facilitate high demand on-sales. We too are finding there has been an increase in the number of requests we get for these types of on-sales as it makes them more 'exclusive' etc.
We haven't found a realistic/practical way of doing it with existing Tessitura functionality either. Shame it doesn't exist as it would make life easier!
In a simplified way of explaining the process, we essentially create uniques (often in the tens of thousands) and upload them to a system that we use. Then we put some code on the webpage so that people can enter their code and it gets validated in the back-end, enabling them to move through the purchase pathway. Once the code is entered once, it becomes invalid.
If you want to know more about what we specifically do, feel free to contact me on chloe.hearne@roundhouse.org.uk. I'm sure we can share some our process documentation with you.
Thanks!
Chloe
