Hi,
We're configuring acknowledgements for all our contributions. When it came to donations that come at the request of someone as a gift "in honor of ____" or "in the name of ____" (such as when someone has passed away, and people want to donate in their name at the request of their family), we're trying to decide the best way to set-up an acknowledgement letter to the family ("A gift has been donated in ____'s name...").
The work-around we found is to create a creditee type for this purpose only (in this case, "In Honor Of"), and in the ack rules choose Creditee Indicator: "All Creditees", and Creditee Type: "In Honor Of." In the contribution, we would mark the person who should get an ack as a creditee with an amount of $0.
Has anyone else encountered this issue and can tell us how they solved it? Are there any implications to using a creditee in this way- solely for an acknowledgement?
Thanks,Maia
