Good Morning Tessitura Network,
We offer 1/2 price child tickets to our July 4th celebration at the Hollywood Bowl, and of course brokers attempt to take advantage of the 50% discount. We would like to setup a requirement - For each Adult ticket you can buy up to 4 child discount tickets. The pricing rules only seem to work for the perfect scenario with a family buying all tickets at once and being done forever, it doesn't cover someone adding a child price online at a later time. Using that rule it also seems we would need 2 child price types - 1 at full price that gives you the discount if you have a qualifying adult, and a second for groups and phone room at 1/2 price they could sell whenever needed. If you have some clever setups that allow for this, please share!
Thanks,
Chris Prince

I did receive an email reply, but it did not show in the forum for some reason. Posting here to keep the thread -
Hi Chris,
What about a 2nd pricing rule to handle any subsequent purchases?
You could have a list of customers who have purchased Adult tickets during the period, which automatically regenerates periodically, say every 3hrs. Anyone on that list triggers a pricing rule that applies the 50% discount to any Child tickets in their cart regardless of whether there is also an Adult ticket (since they already qualify for the discount due to the prior purchase of an Adult).
Would that do the trick?
Kind regards,
Rory
- Thank you so much for the reply, and it does start down the correct path. I think the only issue is keeping the child ticket limit in place (the concert does not have a limit overall). We would really like to hold the 4 child per 1 adult (8C for 2A, etc). If there is a way to add part 2, the list / second pricing rule may work out.
Yes! I deleted my comment as I realised it didn't actually go anywhere near to achieving the end-goal after all!I played around a bit after, as it's a really interesting problem. As far as I know, the only way to achieve the outcome you're after is by a custom cart validation at web checkout
I made a mock up of what I'm thinking on our test website - I'll email you the link directly!
Thank you Rory!
We've run into a second issue however. The Add On Pricing Rule only seems to work if you are adding a different performance. If I add the same perf with a Standard ticket and a Child Discount Ticket the rule doesn't fire. If I add two different perfs (qualifying and additional) it fires just fine.
Yep I found the exact same thing. Sorry for delay - I just sent you an email with a mock up of a cart validation thats making the offer work for me.
Not sure whether you want to go down the validation route, but I think it's the only way you'll get this offer to work auto-magically on the web.
