Multiple entries with One Barcode

Hello Colleagues.

Each summer, Midsummer Night Swing program sells 4-Night, 6-Night and Season Passes (12 admissions) to our dance floor.

Currently, we use an outside vendor to print each pass type which then has a place to hole punch the entry. See example.

Ideally, I would like Tess to print out the Pass Ticket that can be used multiple times for entry. Will Tess allow us to use once barcode for multiple entries?  From what I can tell, no, but maybe someone knows otherwise.

If this is not possible, does anyone know of a vendor who can design the passes with the correct amount of entries with one barcode compatible with NSCAN and Tess? I'd like to be able to see the scan recorded under Attendance History in Tess.

Thanks my friends.

    Hi Michael,

Yes, you can use a composite barcode on your packages.  This will allow you to print one barcode that will scan for each performance.

We use this for a set package we have for dress rehearsals, printing the barcode on a card for the customer, and it works really well.

The only place this may fall down is if you allow exchanges, where a new barcode/individual tickets would need to be generated.

  • Hello Lisa.

This is wonderful news.  Is this configured in the system tables as well as package functionality?  I am trying figure out where this lives to work with my IT team on this,  Thanks so much.

    Hi Michael,

Nothing is needed in the system tables.

In ticketing setup you need to create a ticket design that is a 'composite ticket' category (and within this design select a composite N-scan / composite ticket number, whatever you use for scanning).

In package setup, choose this ticket design as the composite ticket against the package/s as desired.  Printing a package with this ticket design attached will over ride the ticket design attached at the price type when it is within the package, and print one ticket.

Instead of printing directly from the order onto ticket stock, we instead prefer them on plastic cards for durability so we batch print (via season manager) the orders to a file.  This marks the tickets as printed in Tess and gives you the details for the package (as you have selected for your composite ticket design) as one line per package in a text file so you may print externally.

We use a piece of software called 'card exchange' that connects to our card printer to basically do the rest but there are probably several options for doing something like this externally, you can simply use a barcode font to reproduce the nscan number as a barcode.

There should be some documentation on composite tickets, I believe this came in with V12.5.

    Cheers,

    Lisa

  • You're a superstar Lisa! I am going to pass this along to my IT team.  Thanks soon much! Michael
