Ticket scanning for third party agents

Hi,

We have just started to introduce ticket scanners on our doors in our concert venue, City Hall. We have a large proportion of third party agency sales for this venue and wondered if anyone can advise the best way to treat these tickets so we can scan them into the venue. Can we generate barcodes from Tessitura for the agent to print on their stock or can we import the agents barcode files into Tessitura?

Thanks

Annabel

  • Hi Annabel!

We've been doing this for several years with ticket agents, so can probably help!

We find it much easier to issue them with our barcodes than us import their barcodes.  In fact, we always send ours out not the other way round (just from experience it's easier!).

To send your barcode numbers, you basically need to book in their tickets, batch print them to 'file', not 'printer'.  In that file, the ticket numbers will be listed, which are the barcode numbers.

Send them the list of their barcode numbers - don't send any personal data. Also, you need to make sure they are formatted correctly.  The barcode type needs to be code 128 (for us it does, at least).

If I were you, I'd set up a test event, follow the above and then ask them to send you test tickets for scanning to make sure they work.

Does that help?  You're welcome to email me for more info if you want.

    Thanks!

  • That's great thanks Chloe and for your speedy reply. I'll set up a test as you suggest and will email you if I need more info, thanks.
