We commonly use multiple price maps per price type. However, we have only been marking 1 of those price maps with the Base Price check box. I understand from the documentation that you can have more than 1 price map marked as Base, but my question is has anyone encountered any negative implications for doing that?
Reporting issues? Capacity issues regarding seating? (I understand that the dollar capacity would be included in the new price map)
I've run this in Test, and I can't seem to find any major issues, but I can't help but have a feeling there was a reason we didn't do this in the first place. And my brain won't recall the reason.
Help?

It is perfectly acceptable to mark multiple price maps as Base Price as long as they are in different price categories (ticket price, fee, GST, etc). Only one, however, should be marked as both BASE and Ticket Price. Otherwise, you will see double-counting of capacity in some standard reports, including Season Overview, Box Office Statement, Performance Sales Summary (standard and by Price Type Category), where the base price and ticket is used to calculate capacity and gross potential.

Also when in a Ticket Order and trying to select the seats the map will show double the price but will charge the correct amount if you have the end date set on the old price map.

Correct me if I am wrong but some of the standard report do not break out the user defined price categeories and price type categories. This might be something to consider when having more than one base price map.
I’ll also note here, that for consideration of what is “base price”, the price map start/end dates are ignored. Tessitura considers base price to be a static value, despite the obvious ability for pricing to fluctuate over time.
