Hey all, I've been working with Tessitura a couple years now, this past season I've created all of my promo codes and discounts through pricing rules. I know that you can attach offers to performances within Performance Details: Mods of Sale as well. I'm wondering if anyone has any reasons for using one method over the other and I'd love to hear the pros and cons of setting up offers through each method by some folks who are more familiar with the system. Offers tend to be more tightly linked to a source within an appeal. They've also been around a lot longer than pricing rules, so I'm sure a lot of people (myself included) feel a lot more comfortable with them than pricing rules for that reason.
We use offers when we want to flip to a Mode of Sale that allows access to different price types, often we will also add some message only price rules to take advantage of the increased communication with the customer. We've moved to using Price Rules more than Offers because they can help solve more complex puzzles. The price rule recipe document in the help system is really useful! It will be your BFF!
