Box Office renovation question

We are planning a renovation to our Box Office space in 2019 and in advance of this project I'd like to gather some feedback from others who have gone through this process. What layout changes did you make to the Box Office space, is your Box Office an enclosed area or open to the lobby or other style? Were there also functional changes to the Box Office? What would you have done differently? What worked, and what didn't for your space? What was the impact on staff and on patrons? And finally would you share photos of your current Box Office space? Photos can be sent directly to me by email. Thanks for any and all feedback. Barb

  • Following. We’re doing the same in 2020. It looks like our final architect plans have the front desk open to the main lobby. We are primarily a school with a 450 seat theatre so most of our patrons need help with class registration, faculty communication, etc. We’ll have 3 workstations at the desk and everyone will be trained to sell tickets. There will be a ceiling above us to make it easier to hear people. With a 60 foot lobby ceiling things echo a lot for us right now so I’m looking forward to that change. On a show day, we’re talking about assigning one or two spots as Box Office sales/will call. Then patrons will walk down the hall to theatre. This is a huge change for us as we used to have a traditional Box Office attached to the old theatre.

I used to work at the Touhill PAC and originally the Box Office was an open counter to the lobby but recently they enclosed it entirely with glass. It got very cold when the doors opened because it’s just single doors and they close slowly electronically. Also, it was difficult to hear on show night. I understand it’s much better now that it’s enclosed.
