Ranking and Allocation and MOS

I have just set up my first ever allocation/ranking/MOS, and it is doing strange things.  And so I have questions, hoping someone smarter than me will see this.

The first thing that happened was that I got the presale to work - anyone without the ranking got a "tickets not on sale" message, but anyone with the rank who logged in could access and purchase the allocated inventory (and no other inventory).  Winning!  However, then I got a call from a patron who was trying to purchase something else and couldn't.  When he logged in, he got a message saying "you can't  buy this because you're special" or something like that.  So I added the MOS for the presale to all of our performances, and that seemed to fix it (once I adjusted the available delivery methods and some other things).

But now the problem is back!  If someone with the ranking logs in, they can buy the presale, but they can't buy any of our shows currently on sale, even though I've attached the presale MOS to all of our performances.  So what do I need to do?  Do I need to create an allocation of all of the seats for all of the shows just to attach to that rank?  And so will I have to do that from now on for everything we do?  That can't be right, can it???

My second question is that I saw something in the TNEW v.6 documentation that said that if someone with a rank logs in, it's supposed to ask whether they want to switch to their special MOS or just stay in the regular web MOS, but I can't find any details on that or how to make that happen.
