Is it possible to change a facility where an event is held after sales have been processed or can additional seats be added to a single event in a facility already built. We had an event scheduled in a 130 seat venue(all general seating); we now plan to hold this event in a larger venue...what is the best practice for added seats to sell?
When we have had this happen, we manually exchanged everyone (350+) into the new venue (1000+ seats). It was an assigned seat house (general admission seating though, no seat location printed on the ticket); to a larger assigned seat house (again, general admission, no seat location printed on the ticket)
You CAN add seats to an existing venue and then update the performance to pick up the new seats, but this will affect every performance going forward with the same venue, and if you are not selective with the update process it will affect other perfs as well. You would probably add these seats to a blackout hold template of some sort if they are only used occasionally. We’ve done this in the past with one of our assigned seating venues in order to avoid needing to pay consulting for a new TNEW SYOS design.
That said, if the performance is actually moving to a new venue, you probably want to create a new perf and migrate existing sales. Even if it’s GA—I don’t recommend having a single GA seatmap that is used for multiple venues.
