3 Play Choose Your Own Sub Or Pass?

We are looking at selling a 3 Play Choose Your Seated Subscription.  Is anyone doing a similar package?  If so, are you booking them into the same performance for each production (3rd thrusday) or are you allowing them to choose any perfomance of the 3 productions?  What are the pros and cons?

Thanks for the help,

Janna Ellis

  • We’re doing this allowing patrons to choose from 3 to 7 shows out of the season.  This season, we allowed patrons to choose their week show by show (but they had to choose the night of the week for the whole package – so they could choose Thursday with weeks 1, 2, 3,and 1 for example).  This year, we’ve decided not to allow mixed-week packages.  The reasoning is more about simplifying communication with the patron.  Rather than going through and picking specific dates for each individual show, they just need to choose a day, week, and which productions they want to see.  We think it’ll be simpler.

  • We also have what we call "Patron Choice" subscriptions, from 3-6 plays.  We have the patron pick the day of the week & time (mat/eve) that they want to go, and then their seats are best available.  When possible, we tend to like to seat people earlier in the run rather than later, but we do try to get them good seats, so if seats in the later weeks are substantially better, we'll seat them there.

Of course, if patrons have specific dates that they want to request, we're happy to fulfill those pending availability.  We're really pretty open with it - other than the day of week, there aren't too many stipulations for us.

  • We have offered a Build Your Own for a few years and it works very well, especially as an in-season upsell for single ticket buyers. We allow the patron to select any performance from a minimum of 3 productions. This has worked very well to allow for the best in flexibility, and is a good drop for telemarketers especially those that are out of town often, not that anyone ever wants to leave Milwaukee.
