Allocations and colors

Hi everyone

Since the allocated seats can be difficult to spot on the Seat Map compared to the Hold Code Seats, we have been looking at the possibilities to define a color of Allocations whether you have access to them or not (like the blue hold codes)...but without any luck.

In TR_SEAT_STATUS you are able to define the color of a seat that is "Not in Allocation" but not "In Allocation" :)
Have any of you succesfully managed to color allocated seats or done some custom work to highlight the Allocations on the Seat Map?

That would be very interesting to hear about :)

Best regards,

Louise

  • Hello Louise: When in a mode of sale that has access to the allocation, the seat is transparent. I don't think changing the color (even if you could) would do anything, as every available seat would be the same colors, which is what you have now (black dot on white background). We have our staff move to allocations to see what a patron is viewing online, and into the zone tab when looking to match prices. I think what I'm suggesting is that you might want to work with staff to become fluent in going in and out of the tabs. It is another step, and none of us like the extra steps, but we find the existing tools helpful. Wishing you the best of luck! Kindly, Mark
  • Hi Mark Thank you very much for your reply! You are absolutely right that more training of the staff could be the solution. What we hoped for was that allocated seats could look more like Hold Code seats, which are solid blue even though they are available for sale. If you are in the Ticket Sales window, as you said, the selection of MOS will give you a clear view of the available seats, but if you are in the House View, it is not very clear which seats have an allocation applied.
  • I have the same problem – most of our events don’t have allocations, so clicking on the allocations tab for every order isn’t feasible.  I’m with Louise – we need a separate color for available allocated seats!

Hi Louise: Yes, you are correct. Does your staff have access to all the tabs in the order screen? (Seat Type, Allocations, price zones, Holds, etc.?). Not knowing how you use allocations, I would only be guessing as to the best way to address this. (for that reason I just typed and edited out a long-winded suggestion). I'm happy to help look at this further if you like. Wishing you the best of luck. Kindly, mark
