Increasing number of characters for Letter Salutations

Hi all, Does anyone know if it’s possible to increase the number of characters for the Letter Salutations? We have it set to 55 characters, which according to all the documentation is I believe the maximum, however this is not long enough for some of our constituents. We need to use formal names, long prefixes and multiple suffixes for some people. One record in particular would ideally need 93 characters or a minimum of 79 if we dropped the suffixes. Just checking if anyone has been able to increase it to higher than 55? Thanks, Alison

  • Alison,

The 55 character limit isn't something you can increase - as Travis says this would need to be the subject of an enhancement request.

I feel your pain though, for us, this is a problem with people with long, convoluted job titles - which is particularly true of politicians.  I'm considering having a particular type of Note (as in the Research tab) which can then be added as an element in Output Sets.  The job title could then be 255 characters.

It's not a super simple element to set up but if you know a little SQL it's not too hard.  Happy to lend a hand - email me direct (martin.keen@nida.edu.au) if you'd like a hand!
