Please keep in mind that I'm new to packages, so I may be over-explaining...
We have a Chamber Series that includes a total of 13 different programs, performed 3 times each, resulting in a total of 33 performances. They are performed twice a day at 11am and 1pm, for a Festival lasting 17 days (the first day only has a 1pm performance). They are titled for their program number (ex. Chamber Music I (3 showings), Chamber Music II (3 showings), etc.). These all take place in the same venue.
We have been selling subscriptions to the Chamber Series for a long time, but have never packaged them due to their...complexities? We just sell them like regular performances all piled into a single order- but we know that packaging would relieve a lot of headaches and make reporting so much better. The subscriptions we offer are the following:
-Sub A: 1st performance of each program
-Sub B: 11am performance of each program
-Sub C: Odd Programs at 1pm
-Sub D: Even Programs at 1pm
-Sub E: Odd Programs at 11am
-Sub F: Even Programs at 11am
To add to the confusion, we have been flexible in the past to allow subscribers to fall outside of their defined subscription if necessary. For example, if a subscriber of Sub A has a day that they can't go to the performance in their "defined package", we let them substitute a performance in (so maybe, they would go to the second showing of that chamber music program instead).
To ADD TO MORE CONFUSION- some of these subscribers have specific seats that they have for the whole run of their subscription, while others are more open and sit anywhere.
We do not plan to sell these packages online anytime soon, I'm sure you may be able to tell why.
Any guidance as to what kind of package, or combination of packages, and setup recommendations would be sooo helpful. Thanks!
That seems pretty doable. I would require them all to have an assigned seat. You can have fixed seat packages for those going to all shows. For those on even or odd shows just say you’ll do your best to give same or comparable seats. Those would be considered Flex packages. Allowing free exchanges to subscribers is easy, just don’t make the change in the package order. That messes things up for future reporting/roll overs.
Once you seat everyone and renewal deadline has passed you might consider offering a CYO (Choose Your Own) package and they can seat themselves online. All we offer are CYO flex packages in 4, 6 or 8 shows. They’re not technically fixed seat packages but we manually seat them in the same seats so it appears that way to subscribers.
