Is it recommended that entries never be inactivated in TR_BATCH_PERIOD? I understand there is an impact on Season Overview, as well as some Finance reports if changes are made - can we still report on previous fiscal years if they are inactivated in this table?

I've been inactivating every year during my fiscal year cleanup. We haven't noticed any issues and I've just had a look at Season Overview and one of the reports that the documentation specifies is affected by this table - they both still have data to return.
I'm thinking those items simply need the values to exist in that table whether they are active or not. I would recommend trying it out in your test system and see what happens. Worst case scenario, just reactivate them again!
