Multiple Season Packages

Hi! I was wondering if anyone out there has had any luck selling multiple seasons (across two fiscal years) at once in a single subscription package.  If so, what were the diffulcites you faced and how did you solve any issues you might have faced especially involving seating and reporting.  Thanks so much!

  • Hi Jason.  We haven't quite implemented cross-season packages yet, but I've done some test work to see what's possible and we're hoping to launch them soon.  I believe they would be limited to CYO/Flex packages, but you can create a performance group in the current season with performances that are built in a future season by unselecting the checkbox for "filter by business unit only."  Then you can create a Flex type package and add the performance groups for current and future seasons to that package.  Our biggest issue is tackling our seating requests as any cross-season package would need to be completely seated before their first performance occurs, but we typically don't seat new subscriptions until after they pass a renewal deadline.  We still have to work out how we'll handle that...but I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the setup!

  • Thanks for the reply!   I'm really hoping you are wrong about being limited to Flex packages as we're hoping to create a Fixed seat package (as well as do a rollover into this package).  I think we'll need to proceed with some testing and go from there.   I'll report back with our findings.

  • Hi Jason. Regarding Packages, one important concept that can be overlooked (or assumed) is that there is a difference between the Season for a PERFORMANCE/Production Season and a Season for a PACKAGE. Unfortunately, in the Help system, this is not detailed in the Performance Group Setup, but is detailed in the Package Planning as a note. Package Planning: “NOTE: A package need not be assigned to the same season and campaign as the performances composing it” (it would be clearer is it said season OR campaign, instead of AND). Once you realize that your Package Season can be named whatever you want it to be (and it does not rely on any of the Seasons of the performances within the Package), you can see how the Package can have Performances across different Seasons (Performance/Production Season) as well as different Fiscal Years. Combine this concept with the uncheck the “filter by business unit only” box concept you realize that you do have many options regarding packages.

Also, many of the settings on Package setup can be left blank e.g. you can leave the Facility blank. Once I realized that you can leave some settings blank, I could see the potential of Packages. Be careful of your assumptions (this is an easy trap to continually fall into - been there, done that, probably will do it again).
