We're having a conversation regarding gift certificates and I'm curious as to what other groups do. Our gift certificates are currently selling under an old performance from a 14-15 season. This has been considered "good enough" since they've been selling but it sets my teeth on edge for a variety of reasons and I want to update the process.
Now the conversation is revolving around the options of building one campaign/season/performance that is not tied to a fiscal year (all the GC funds go to one GL regardless of fiscal year) or building a new gift certificate performance each year.
I've always done the later. Is anyone using just one static event and if so, how is it working out?
We don’t so much as sell to the event as use the event to link to the gift card page for purchase.
I think the thought is to get it in as many places as possible. I’m working on eliminating the page completely but in the meantime, I’m stuck with it.

Hey Michelle,
I'm wondering why you sell your gift certificates to an event first and foremost. There is inherent functionality in Tessitura to do a gift certificate transaction without ever selling to any type of event. You have set up it up as a payment method but then you do the full transaction in the payment screen only. There is reporting in Tessitura as well about gift certificates that is canned reporting. That is how I've done gift certificates at every Tessitura using organization I've worked at.
