Pricing Rule Question

Hi All,

We're not really using pricing rules at the moment and really looking to start bringing them in. I'm trying to setup a pricing rule where if customers book tickets for one show - they get tickets to another production at 50% discount.

I've created an 'Add on' rule which is applying the discount on the second show perfectly, however, my stumbling block is if a person books 3 productions (as multiple productions qualify over two different seasons to complicate matters) - I only want them to get the discount on 1 of those shows, as it's a buy one get one half price - does anyone know of a way where I can strictly limit the discount to be a 1 to 1 basis - if that makes sense!?

THANKS! :)

  • Hi Heather,

    It is date and time.

This limitation of how the maximum seats setting is enforced is addressed in the Pricing Rule setup help topic:

Maximum Seats – The maximum number of seats to which the rule can be applied across all orders. After the maximum has been reached the rule will no longer be applied to new orders.

The seat count for a rule is incremented whenever a seated or unseated SLI to which the rule has been applied is saved. Deleting or returning the SLI later will decrement the count; donating a seat for resale does not decrement the count. Once the max seat threshold has been passed the date and time the threshold was passed is recorded, and it will be displayed on the rule:

When the pricing service retrieves rules for an order, rules with a threshold reached date before the order date are excluded.

NOTE: If an existing order with an order date prior to the threshold reached date is loaded, the rule can still be applied to that order, regardless of whether that would exceed the Maximum Seats count.

I suppose, though, that it isn’t explicit about the order that takes the rule to the limit being able exceed the limit. I’ll make a note to add some additional clarification.
