Subscription Order Discounts - "Take $XX off your order if you do <blank>"

Hi all,

I'd like to implement a "credit" for first-timer subscription renewals (among some other things). I envision this as sort-of a $X discount on the subscription order.

Has anyone done this - and how would you set this up? The only ways I know of are to "pay" for it via an on-account for the discounted amount - but ideally I don't want to settle up a whole bunch of on account $$ that should have just been taken off the order as a discount.

Maybe there's a better way out there? Any ideas?

  • Hi James, I am wondering if you can tackle this idea by playing with pricing rules and and assign the rule to only trigger to the select constituents (first time subscribers). So maybe if your subscribers normally get 25% off, they can get 30% off if they renew, etc. This way you won't have to be applying credits to accounts and moving  money around.

Or similarly create a source code with the discounted price type.

If you wanted to go the credit route, I am also thinking maybe you can give a gift certificate code, but that maybe a lot of extra work and could be messy..

Curious to hear what others have to say.
