How to reduce admission price at a certain time of day

Does anyone reduce the price of admissions based on time of day? ex. 9AM - 5 PM regular pricing is in effect; at 5PM all prices drop to one low price.

Looking for suggestions on the best approach for doing this... thanks.

  • Thank you Susan.... great idea!

  • At the Wadsworth Atheneum, admission is free 4 – 5 pm. It’s set up as its own performance and we use a few price types (adult, senior, student) so that we can estimate value. Until about a year ago, admission was half price from 4 – 5 pm. After changing to “free” admission (and advertising it as Happy Hour), attendance during that hour went from about 2 to 15. It has pulled in a new audience of first time visitors and has been a good experience. Best, Sue

  • Thank you Ray.  I looked at price layers and had the same thought as you -- a bit tricky and time consuming.

  • Hi Barbara,

You could simply set up a pricing event to happen each day at 5pm to lower your pricing.

  • Hi,
Another option would be to add a price layer, which is date and time specific. It may be a time-consuming task, and you must be careful because any overlap will be additive for the two layers.

  • Thanks Michele... I was a bit overwhelmed by the price event documentation but I found and watched the Revenue Management webinar which demo'd how to create a price event and that is exactly what we want. Thanks!
