if you have a restaurant onsite, what's your POS system?

Hi everyone,

In addition to our theatres, we run a restaurant onsite and are actively looking to change our POS system we use in it.  Do any of you have a system you like, or recommend staying away from?  It would be an absolute dream if it integrated with Tessitura to even a small degree, but I know that’s unlikely!  Any and all comments gratefully received.

Thanks!

Kathleen

  • At one of our theatres we have a bar staffed by two bartenders we serve up drinks and pre-packaged dinners there.

Considering there is no expansion in the foreseeable future for our venues in regards to F&B, we decided to go simple and use the SQUARE register app.

They've made an incredibly sleek app and Web Site that tracking inventory, sales, deposits, etc is quite simple. There's also restaurant tickets that can be done for a full fledged restaurant experience, however we've never set that part up for ourselves.

Because the system relies on Square's own credit card processing system you won't have to set that part up, either.  The hardware that is used with this system is an iPad, Square's credit card readers (they offer free swipers that connect to the audio jack on the ipad, as well as a Bluetooth chip-n-pin system integrated with contactless for purchase), a POS Register (they'll have a list of compatible models you can use and purchase), screen (again, list of compatible models), and receipt printers (compatible list avail).

I think there's more, but in our set up we opted with the basics: iPad, and credit card readers. In fact, we find (in Southern California) not having a receipt printer has not been a problem since the Square App can email or text the receipt to the patron... and you know us SoCal folks... "SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT!"

Every year Square seems to add more functionality to their system, so it seems to be getting better and better as time goes on, and their cc fees are quite reasonable
