Using Pricing Rules to Change PT in flex package

Hello,

We are trying to find a way to change the price type for items in a flex package when the patron selects at least 2 main stage performances.  Ultimately we would like the price type to change from the full package price to a discounted package price type when the patron selects at least two main stage productions in the flex package.  This new price type would be applied to the main stage shows as well as any other events that are a part of the flex package.  If they only select one of the main stage performances and an event then the full package price would remain.

I tried the volume rule where I select the production seasons for the two main stage with a minimum qty of 2 but it doesn't seem to be changing the price type of the component pieces.  Has anyone had success with something like this?  Is it possible?  Am I using the wrong rule?

Thanks

Mike

  • Hi Michael,

In short, it is not possible to set up a pricing rule that will be triggered based on which performances you select for a flex package.

Performances added to an order as part of a package (i.e. there is a package code on the SLI), are not considered as performance seats by pricing rules, they are considered package seats.

Even if you moved away from packages and tried to use pricing rules to apply subscription pricing, e.g. us a Product Volume rule to apply the Subscriber price type when 4 or more performances are added, there still isn’t a way to set up the rule to say only apply when you have 2 main stage shows and 1 or more non-main stage shows (for that you would need some sort of hybrid Add On and Product Volume rule).

I’ve heard this kind of scenario come up from other organizations as people have begun experimenting with pricing rules, so it’s worth putting in an enhancement request to add another vote for some kind of special flex package rule type in the future.
