Package Returns

Hoping someone has an easy solution I'm missing.  We don't have subscriptions so we've been processing our packages as single tickets over the past 10 years.  We're going onto TNEW so we're biting the bullet and want to use the package set-up.   I need to force constituents to purchase all of the shows in the package but I want our operators to be able to return one of the shows if they need to.   If I lower the minimum., it doesn't enforce the package online.   Surely, we're not the only ones who "break" a package for a sick donor?  How do you do it?

Thanks for any help!

  • You have probably noticed that you cannot delete SLIs from a package if that would cause it to break the package requirements. What you can do is to print the tickets you want to delete, and then return them. This way, the SLIs that are required by the package still exist, but you will have released the seat and optionally have the ticket value available for refund.

  • Hi Susan,

We do a huge number of exchanges! We've done this a few ways. I'm assuming you're talking about flex packages.

If it's a flex package, here are the three ways I've dealt with it.

    1. We do what Nick suggested (print and return after). This doesn't work before we've seated and turned on printing for packages but is easy enough for the reps to do once our ticket mailing is done.

    2. Click on the show select  chiclet and unselect the performance you don't want anymore and select to the new performance. I know this doesn't work with different price types and I can't remember if it works once the package is seated.

    3. This one is more manual but I haven't found a better work around if #2 doesn't work in the situation. My reps add in the exchanged show underneath and leave a balance owing. They then let me know a performance needs to be deleted from the package. I go into the package in ticketing setup and reduce the minimum number of performances, go to the order and delete the unwanted performance and then go back to the packages and put it back to the correct number. Fairly manual but we don't need to do it too frequently.

If it's a fixed package, and prior to printing, lowering the minimum doesn't affect it online for us (in TNEW). I just delete the concert (with the delete key) from the line item screen and put the money on account or add a different concert with the funds in a line item below.

We do lots of exchanges so please feel free to reach out to me if you have further questions.

    Good luck with it!

  • Thank you.  Yea!  That's a simple solution.  I figured there had to be one. You made my day.

  • Thanks Jessica!  Appreciate the quick response!
