Capturing constituent info during last-minute sales

(Cross-posted to Marketing Forum for max. coverage!)

Hi all,

We are presenting several film series this season, and hoping to capture information about who's attending. The catch, of course, is that most film ticket buyers show up only minutes before the film, leading to a pile-up in our box office.

Does anyone have creative suggestions for capturing basic patron information during last-minute ticket sales?

  • You could also set Tessitura so that an account can be just a name and email address. This was new functionality that came in version 11 I believe (maybe 12.1). That way you can at least market to these patrons via email. In our ever progressing digital society, some of your patrons may only want this type of account (especially your younger audiences).

  • When you swipe a credit card, you usually get a first and last name on the magnetic stripe, as well as the last 4 digits to match up on later.

Has anyone thought about experimenting with using that data to flesh out an "anonymous" sale or match up with an existing constituent record after the fact? Ideally the moment you swipe a card on the payment screen Tessi could tell you matching constituents, but I'm not sure that's likely to happen any time soon.

Yep. I look for "last-four-CC# + name" matches regularly, among various other ways of looking for dupes.
