Barcode Width

Hello,

I'm working with NSCAN number barcodes and am having some trouble getting the format as I'd like it.  I find that if I set the Code 128 (numeric) code type to NSCAN number with a width of 1 I have an acceptable rendering.  However, the documentation says to use a width setting of 2.  Have any of you rolled the dice and used a 1-width barcode?  Did it scan properly?

Thanks

Dave

  • Hi-
I'm not sure if this is frowned up or not, but I've changed the bar code sizes by doing a bit of experimentation around 'font size' associated with the bar code.

For example, for one of our bar codes, we Bar Code 39, barcode Height 4, Widt 2, but associated with this I'm using a font size of 3, Char height 1, Char width 1.  This is used for the ticket number only.

On another bar code, I'm using Code 128 height 5, width 2, Font type 9, Char height 5 width 2.  This is for the 20 character bar code.

In both cases you need to check 'print as barcode', but leave 'print barcode text' unchecked.  This is important.

I've made huge bar codes, too big for tickets, and bar codes so small they look like a single line.  You'll want to experiment a bit, using a test ticket type.

While changing the print to a width or height of '1' might be convenient, but may not be useful for those scanning.

    Best of luck,
