Auto Renewal of Subscriptions

We are looking to give our patrons the ability to auto-renew their subscriptions for the following season and were wondering if anybody else was doing this and if so how do you handle them and how do handle items such as add-on performances where only subscribers can add-on additional performances and usually get the same seats for these add-ons as they would for their subscription so that basically they have their subscription seats for these add-ons.  We would appreciate any advise.  Thank you.

  • Hi Arthur-

McCarter offers automatic subscription renewals. We keep their credit card on file and then automatically "renew" their series for them for the next season.

(Without them knowing what the season is--so this program is for the patron who knows they want to see any theatre productions or any music performances - regardless of what is on schedule.)

We run reports that automatically charge the orders, after we do roll overs. We also give preference to these type of autosubscribers with seat changes (as we do them in a date received order....donors get first dibs, then autosubscribers, then multisubscribers, then subscribers, etc....).  We usually do advance single ticket purchases as unseated line items, in different order numbers- not in the subscription order.  For performances that are not part of a fixed series (ie- if a patron wants their annual Christmas Carol tickets), we would probably seat them and pay for them as they place the order. OR go into the seat map and put their requested seats to a hold code. Then seat them at a later time.

    Hope this helps-
