Is it absolutely necessary to print a ticket before returning it?
If so, is there a way to print to pdf?
We would like to eliminate on waste.
Yes. Setup a NULL printer and print to that. Then you have no waste.
Goto -> Devices and Printers -> Add a Printer -> Printer was not listed -> Add a local printer - > Use existing port -> Select Generic for manufacture and Generic text only as a the printer.-> uncheck set as default and do not share.
It should show as an available ticket printer. Print to it and you are done.
If you have a printer server you could add it to the server and make it part of deployed printers if your orgs is setup like that.

Hi Donna,
In most cases, you should be able to delete the lineitem, but we also have a fake boca set up for things like this. Or, if you have a lot of tickets you need to fake print, you can batch print to a file, and then delete the file.
Cheers,
Kathleen

A ticket does have to be marked printed in order to be returned. However, you can set up a NULL printer (a generic/text-only printer pointing to the NULL port) and in essence "print to nowhere".
To do this, create a new generic/text-only printer. In the printer properties, navigate to the Ports tab and select the NUL: port as the destination. If the NUL: port doesn't exist, you can create it by clicking Add Port.
