Hello -
We are wondering if there is a way to move money on account from one CID to another, but that "another" account is a completely different person.
The situation is a subscriber account has three tickets for a concert and the "third" person (a friend) owns that third ticket and made an exchange and a credit balance remains on the account. Well the account it is on is the original buyer but belongs to the friend and the friend had said she wants to donate that balance. So the friend should get the tax credit. We print our letter manually but it doesn't accurately reflect in Tess.
I hope this makes sense.
Thank you!
Brian
We have a payment method called “Money in Transit” that we use for this purpose. Only 3 people can use it. It leaves no trail in Tessitura—the money leaves one account, and then you use it in another account, and the money comes in. I have a monthly report scheduled to make sure that, over the past month, the balance for this payment method is $0. It goes to its own GL and is an Adjustment payment type.
I’d be happy to detail how it works, if you’re interested.
Lucie

Hi Brian -
To give you a twist on Lucie's idea, some people create that 'move money' payment method as a gift certificate payment method type. This allows you to actually trace the money from one account paying in to the other account - which can make it easier to balance if you do have a discrepancy at month/year end. Just like Lucie said, you use a separate GL. The only added step is writing down the 'gc' number for redemption if you go that route. It really depends on how many transactions you might have and how open you might want to make that payment method. The "gift certificate" method does allow for greater audit trail if you need it.
Food for thought!
