Hi Tessiturites,
We are a new installation here (less than 2 months) and we are trying to have a discount code/coupon offer for a particular season of performances for a limited time period. Looking through the Help system they mention 'Offers' and applying them to Modes of Sale and subsequent Price Types, but how so you register a COUPON through TNEW that must be applied to trigger this offer?
Thanks
Once you have the offer configured so that a specific source is controlling access to your discount price type, you use an entry in TR_WEB_SOURCE_NO to associate that source number with a Promo Code that can be entered in TNEW.
A note about MOS -- typically, offers are placed on top of your regular modes of sale. This means you must make your discount price type allowed in the regular MOS, but then make sure that you only ever apply that price type to a performance when you are controlling it with an offer -- otherwise, the discount price type will be freely accessible (This is also why the offer start and end dates should usually match the price type start and end dates -- controlling access to the OFFER can then be done using the SOURCE start and end dates).
An alternate way to do all of this without offers is to use an alternate mode of sale that grants access to the discount price types, and using TR_WEB_SOURCE_NO to create a promo code for a mode of sale shift, instead of an offer. In my experience this is a little easier to wrap your head around, but isn't really practical in the long run because of the need to create new modes of sale whenever you want a new discount. (But this may at times be the only solution if you also need to control access to a seating allocation.)
Thanks! I just found out that the offer was merely to display pre-sales at a particular date for a coupon holder, not offer a different price!
