Moving Audience Best Practice?

Hi everyone:

Our cabaret space that is already on sale with single and subscription tickets has just been made larger and with a layout that differs enough that I cannot simply add more tables and seats to the existing facility.  Table number and hence, seat numbers printed on tickets are changing as well.

What's best practice with this?  I can't see using move audience because I'm not moving to a facility that's a mirror image but a different date.

My solution:

Create new facility

Create new shows on the same date changing the description slightly to identify the show we're moving to.

Exchange all tickets to the newly created shows that have the new facility.

Would love to hear thoughts / experiences from anyone who has done this already.

  • We do this relatively often.

    Depending on the number of patrons affected we would create an email merge acknowledgement to notify them and even print new tickets on different stock to clarify which tickets are valid for patrons and FOH (we don't need to do this for venues where N-Scan is being used). For a smaller event we'd call everyone directly.

    We disable the old events Web MOS, when the new is built hold the seats needed to reseat, then immediately put it back on sale and perform exchanges in the background.

    Little details like updating the performance title of the old event to TITLE-CANX, and performance type to Cancelled, also help to ensure staff don't make mistakes whilst reseating.

    A typical ream of paper takes about 60 litres of water to make. By printing less you’re playing your part.
