Is there a way to control group fees? Different areas use fees differently, and it is a nuisance to wade through all current fees to get to the one needed.

Fees are associated with seasons, which can be control grouped. I'm not able to test that at the moment, but I wonder if that would work?
Hey Ray, in addition to what Chris mentioned (the control group on the season) there is also a control group on the Campaign that controls that display of fees. When both the Season and Campaign are control grouped, you should get the fees hidden on both the setup and the sales screens.

The general best practice is that Business Units are for a specific kind of financial control, and Control Groups are for general, flexible security and visibility.
The Business Unit is directly or indirectly attached to every piece of revenue in Tessitura, and there is a hard-and-fast rule that more than one Business Unit cannot be used in a transaction. So if you had one BU on a membership fund, it could not be paid for with a Payment Method associated to a second BU. This segregation is helpful for strict financial control, such as when two legally distinct entities with two different general ledgers need to share a system. It's uncommon for Tessitura organizations to have more than one Business Unit.
Control Groups are associated with many more places around the system, and have more robust controls available. These are the better choice when you need to control visibility around the system, draw lines between departments, etc. Control Groups also facilitate multiple organizations sharing a Tessitura system, and they do so in a way that is far more flexible than Business Units. It's far more common to use Control Groups to designate different department or organizations in Tessitura.

Thanks, Chris and Michael! When we set Tessitura up, oh so many years ago, we made some decisions that have not stood the test of time, around control grouping. Any best practice suggestions for “Business Unit”? We have one global business unit for our organization.

Thanks, Michael. I was hoping to make setting up Performance Groups a little easier, and have been wondering if we were making the correct use of Business Unit. It seems we are. Thanks for your feedback.
