We are starting a volunteer program. In certain classes (general admission) we will be placing Volunteer Hold Codes on the seats that are specific for volunteers. I know by using a spec.req. the WEB API can break the Hold Code, but is it possible for us only to use seats that contain the Hold Code and not consider any other seats when our volunteer constituents log into the Volunteer Portal?
For example I have a GA facility with 50 seats and two of the seats have a Hold Code of Volunteer - I only want those two seats to be made available to the constituent when they log in to our portal.
Thanks
Bob
No, you don’t need TNEW – Your website has to be set up to accept promo codes and use them to swap the MOS to the one the allocated seats are in. For us, we use it for seats for open captioning, and we use a CAPTIONG MOS for that.

I have been trying to convince the powers that be that we didn't have to wait to upgrade Tess to have breakable holds to have restricted seat inventory online. We could have been using seat allocations the whole time. I don't think we have to have TNEW to do this or am I wrong? Did you have to do anything on the WEB API side to have the allocations work for you?
Thx.

Hi Bob:
We accomplish this using allocations. For example, we work with a certain credit card company and allocate 20 seats per performance for their member’s use. They send an e-mail telling their members to use code ABC123, this code is tied to the ABC123 MOS, ABC123 PT and ABC123 Promo Code / Source.
When their members go to our TNEW site they enter ABC123 in the promo code box, choose the event and only those 20 seats show up.
Works perfectly every time!

I think the best way to make this work is actually to use allocations tied to a promo/source instead of hold codes. I've never actually had to use that but have had it suggested to me when I was considering it. Hopefully someone else with a little more experience can chime in.
